I wanted to style this sweater I recently got from SheIn a little different than I did the first time (see here with jeans). I wanted something a little casual and fun but still a high waist since this is a cropped sweater. Super comfy for walking around a cute lil Cincinnati 'hood.

I wore this look whilst brunching over the weekend. We tried a (new to us) spot downtown called Maplewood, and it was sooooo good. Avocado toast, lemon ricotta pancakes, lattes, and coffee to-go; I was happy as a basic can be. 😜
Every item I'm wearing in this post has actually been on the blog before, but it's a whole new look for this dress (originally blogged here). I think one of the things I actually love about my clothes is remixing them so they look completely different. Which I know isn't everyone's first wardrobe inclination in this social media don't-post-it-twice world we live in today. But I'm embracing my wardrobe (and the money I put in it) by re-wearing and re-gramming my clothes. Who is with me!?

I am really itching to transition my wardrobe to spring like NOW. You know at the end of summer when everyone is like "oh, I can't wait for it to cool down and get chilly outside!"?? I would NEVER say that. NEVER. Summer forever over here. You can keep your layers, and I am fully capable of drinking a Pumpkin Spice Latte in 90 degree weather.
It was in the low 60s when we took these photos so kinda sorta turning into spring, but it's supposed to snow this weekend. 😩 That's Midwest living for ya!
What's everyone up to this weekend? I'm doing puppy training with Scout, babysitting my nephew, and hopefully getting some tennis time in.
Scout has been in puppy training the last few weeks on Saturdays. He's actually been really good and is so smart. I'm so proud of him. But the class is an hour and a half and around the one hour mark he kind of hits a wall and is just ready to leave. Which kind of breaks my heart. 💔 But we get through it together. 👊
I always try to wear something comfy because it's actually really physical. I'm on the ground a lot helping and holding Scout. Basically leggings, sweatshirt, and sneakers every week!
I wore this outfit over the weekend out to lunch and shopping with my mom. These booties have been such a great buy this season (I have them in grey as well). I wear them all the time, and they are relatively comfortable so easy for mall walking. 😂 Also, Levi's 721 is the best cut- I have them in 4 washes (here in indigo, here in black, here in this dark wash, and I just got them in white). Kind of obsessed!
I've put together a little Spring Wish List with some of my favorite pieces from Shein. They have such fun, on-trend pieces at such a great price point! Definitely eyeing all of these pieces for my Spring wardrobe, along with a bunch of others. I've been loving Shein lately for their cozy sweaters - I've worn their pieces here and here. A few snaps from those posts are below.
What is on your Spring Wish List this year??
Putting out some mixed messages with this outfit. My sweatshirt says "I'm really laid back, guys" but my phone case says "I'm a little crazy, but people tolerate it, because I'm fun." I think both are true of my personality so wearing them together only makes sense, really.
Also, could the pom on this beanie be any bigger?? I literally LOVE it.
I decided to start saving my beauty empties each month after being inspired by my favorite YouTuber, Ingrid (her video here). And after I'd started to save my (trash, essentially 😂), a blogger pal from Thread, Preeti, did a post on her recent empties (here). So I'm officially jumping on the bandwagon. These are the products I finished off in February.
1. Clinique Liquid Facial Soap: I started using this product in my early 20's. It was a time when I'd graduated from the Proactiv years (thank goodness), but didn't know what "adults" used. All of the drugstore products didn't seem to do anything for my skin- they actually kind of hurt it. My sister suggested the entire Clinique skincare system, and my skin was literally GLOWING in the beginning. The products have lost a bit of that initial luster (it's like my skin got used to it or something), but the face wash is something I always come back to. Good to my dry skin and keeps breakouts at bay.
2. Suave Kids Detangler Spray: I've been using this detangler since my college years (my roommates were literally obsessed with apple scent, so it was hilarious to tell them it was a kid product). My hair gets super tangly, because it's thick and unruly, so I like to douse it in detangler. This stuff is cheap, so I can really load up after each wash, and it helps my Wet Brush glide through my hair.
3. Glamglow Thirstymud: I've actually reviewed this product before (here), and it continues to be one of my favorites. Super hydrating, great tingly feeling, and in general, I love this product line (see an additional post here). I polished off this mini size this month, so will be re-upping with a full size.
4. Up & Up Shave Gel: No shame in my generics game. I like my shaving creams to be gel formulas and don't mind purchasing Target's generic brand to save some cash. Good lather, rarely knick myself when using this stuff.
5. Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Lotion: This was my "desk lotion" for quite a long time. You know- the lotion you keep on your desk at work so you have something to remoisturize with after using the awful office bathroom soap. These are real girl pitfalls. 😂 Aveeno is fine, but I honestly hate the smell. I'd rather smell like flowers than a bowl of oatmeal. I likely bought this because it was on sale, and I've replaced it with one of my favorite products EVER. Bold statement, but it's been an incredible hand cream - review to come next month I'm sure (because I am plowing through it).
Let me know what you think of the empties post and if you want to see it again next month!
SheIn Sweater ℅, Levi's Jeans, Clare V. Clutch, David Yurman Ring, Swarovski Earrings (previously here), Sam Edelman Shoes, Lips - MAC Liner in Hip 'N' Happy, MAC Lipstick in Overtime, OPI Nail Polish in Funny Bunny
I once felt a shortage of white sweaters in my wardrobe, but now, thanks to SheIn, I have two cute new additions to my closet (previous one here). I love the cropped cut of this one and the big pillowy sleeves.
Have a wonderful, Wednesday! Thanks for stopping by!
February was full of pink and spring-like temps here in Cincinnati. I hate wishing my life away, but I'm really ready for winter to be over. Permanent warm weather is neeeeeeeded. A few Instagrams plus a playlist of some of my favorite songs I've been listening to this month. 💕💕
I love wearing a comfy, cozy sweater to the gym in the winter. I feel rather demotivated when the weather is chilly, so it helps to throw on something that makes leaving the house a little less painful. And cute kicks don't hurt either.
When Joanna Liu reached out to me asking if she could gift her book, When I Wake Up, to my little nephew, Parker, describing it as Kate Spade-like - quirky, colorful, and sophisticated - I thought "ummm yes, please! This sounds right up my alley, as well as Parker's!" Haha! Parker loves to read- it's probably one of his favorite things, and this book has found a permanent space in his little library. Since receiving it, he requests it and asks to have it read to him 4 or 5 times in a row.
Joanna is a philosophy major and designed the book as a sleep aid for her own daughter. The story and pictures promise fun things to look forward to tomorrow after a good night's sleep. The pictures are so fun and colorful, and Parker has had so much fun pointing out the things he loves.
Including baking a cake, so as the exceptional aunt I am, I obliged. Scroll for more!
We did a very loose (and baby approved) version of this Southern Living recipe. We took a basic white cake mix and substituted whole milk for water and added two teaspoons of vanilla extract. Then we took three crazy colors of vanilla frosting to make our cake as colorful as the illustrations in When I Wake Up. It was a really fun and easy activity to do, and the cake was Parker approved. 👍
Thank you, Joanna, for the beautiful book. It has found a place on our bookshelf and in our hearts. ❤️
If you are interested in this whimsical little book, you can find it here.
I got this sweatshirt over the weekend, and I think it's so cute. I've literally always been really drawn to graphic sweatshirts (here, here, here, here, here) and sweaters (here, here). I have no idea why- I just think they're cute and fun. And I love the boxy cut of this one.
We shot these photos last weekend, and the weather was INCREDIBLE. It was in the 60s which is unheard of in February in the Midwest. We'd actually been playing for awhile when we took these photos so my makeup looks a bit smudgy, but I kind of like it! 😜
Sneaking in this little LBD before velvet becomes seasonally inappropriate (and with the current 60 degree temps in Cincinnati, I'm hoping that's soon!) I got this dress from one of my favs, Von Maur, around the holidays. Lots of pictures of the back of this one because that's where the party is at! 😜
I love a slouchy, white, off the shoulder sweater (remember this one styled here, here, here?) and Free People does the best. I've worn this one out and about (like here for brunch yesterday) or cuddled up at home with boy shorts and a book.
Today is my Monday 😩 I had such a great holiday weekend- it's always hard to go back to work but at least it's a short week!
Oh, man, we had some serious laughs with this outfit. My sister (who takes my photos) could not stop with the military and police officer jokes. But I don't care- I've been a fan of newsboy style hats since my high school days. Hats in general just make me happy (I mean all smiles here, here, here, here, here). So laugh it up because I can't stop, won't stop!
What's everyone up to this weekend? I have my first obedience class with Scout, a baby shower for my sister, and a three day weekend. Needless to say I'm pumpedddddd!
This dress has been my go-to office holiday dress for the last few seasons. I always wear it with a turtleneck underneath, tights, and black boots (see here). So I wanted to remix it for a little later in the winter season. No tights (yes, I'm cold) and a denim jacket makes it look less "Merry Christmas" and more "Spring is just around the corner, right!?"
I've been in a bit of a reading slump lately. I've started books and haven't been able to finish them. Does this ever happen to you? I hate it so much. So I decided to revisit an old favorite to get me reading again. I love everything Jeffrey Eugenides has written but The Marriage Plot is by far my favorite. A little book look inspired by the cover and the main character, Madeleine.
I spent this past weekend up at the lake house for a little R&R. For how warm and sunshiny it gets in the summer, it gets equally cold in the winter. We took the pup over to the beach to run around and play, and it was so windy. I'll be honest, we didn't last long, but it's so fun to see Scout's reaction to new things. He's always curious, and the beach was no exception.
Also, Happy Valentine's Day! I hope you are spending it with family, friends, and loved ones. 💗
