my current workout routine
Super photo heavy post because how cute is my pup!? And isn't it crazy how big he has gotten?? Remember how tiny he was in this post?? I mean he's gonna be a giant before long. 😂
I know I do a lot of workout wear posts (here, here, here) but not a lot of actual workout posts so I thought I'd share my current workout routine. If I'm being honest, it's not a lot - I don't get crazy with it! I think establishing a workout routine post-college was so difficult for me because going to the gym felt like a chore. I'd never really "hit the gym" since I was always involved in team sports through high school and most of college. So it was definitely an adjustment trying to find a workout routine that still felt fun.
My Current Workout Routine:
Tennis twice a week: I play doubles once a week with some other ladies at my tennis club. It's about an hour and a half to two hours of play time. And then I attend stroke clinic once a week which I LOVE. It's tons of running and really fast paced for an hour, so I get in a significant amount of cardio. Plus it's summer-camp-like games so really competitive and just fun!
Short run in the morning: Scout is an extremely high energy dog. It's basically a never-ending supply of never-sit-down. Haha! And since I work from home and can't have a dog pacing around me at all times, I like to wear him out a bit with a short run in the morning. He's just a baby so about 15-20 minutes does the trick, and I'm not a runner, so I don't mind the short distance 😂 But I will say, since I started playing tennis last summer, my endurance has gone WAY up. I actually can't believe it!
Squats: My sister used to make fun of my booty so much (sorry, Hope - it's true!) In all honesty, she was right - it was pretty flat. Haha! So I started working in this squat routine. It's really manageable (I either do it in the park after my run or in my apartment), and it's honestly made a difference. I started seeing results around the first 20 day mark. Once I complete the 30 days, I just start it over. Not sure if this is the best thing to do (I'm not a professional trainer, guys), but as long as I am seeing results and feeling strong, Imma keep it up! (Also, I never use a hopper at tennis to pick up balls - I squat down to pick them up and pile them high on my racket - just a lil cardio tennis!)
Abs: I once told my sister "I really want abs, but who has the time??" in which she replied, "YOU. You have the time." So I downloaded this app. It's really hard, and I frankly hate it, but I saw results after just the first week (or maybe I'm delusional, but hey, it's kept me going).
And that's it, guys! I told you it wasn't a lot, but I think getting out there and doing something is better than nothing. Also, my current running mix is at the end of the post!
What does your workout routine look like?
*I know it's weird to link socks, but I got these at TGT last week, and I think they are so cute and fit really snug!
