from the books :: braids, buns, and twists!
It's been quite awhile since I featured a book that isn't a novel (like the holidays last year!) Which is a shame, because there are tons of great books that aren't necessarily novels. So here's to 2017 where I feature more books of all kinds! And I'm starting with Braids, Buns, and Twists. My mom got me this book for my (big) birthday this past year, and I love the nostalgic throwback of it. I am certainly of the Youtube generation and typically depend on the stars of the interwebs for my hair (and makeup) inspiration. But this book reminds me of tutorial books of yesteryear, back when the internet didn't even exist (yes, there was a time). I've loved flipping through it and picking out different hairstyles to try (some successfully and some not so much).

I did this hairstyle just before the holidays (post here) and it was so, so easy, but looks rather impressive, no? Just twist and pin and twist and pin, and you're done before you know it!
I love to wear braids when I workout (examples: here, here, here, here, ya feel me?) You're hair is pulled back, and it rarely requires a redo halfway through your workout (especially if you have troll hair, like me, it just sticks where you put it 😂) And this mermaid braid is thicker looking than you're typical braid. Two reverse braids, braided right next to each other, and then pinned one on top of the other.
Super easy for any formal event. Twist two buns - one on top of the other - use a ton of bobby pins, add an LBD, and head out the door!
