I feel like I say this with every book I read, but Brooklyn was the best book I have read in awhile! Ha! But seriously, I really, really loved this one! It was so authentic, and Eilis was such a thoughtful character (it seems critics often describe her as passive, but I never thought that once). It's a beautifully told coming of age story, and my heart felt for Eilis throughout the entire book - especially at the end.
She felt almost guilty that she had handed some of her grief to him, and then she felt close to him for his willingness to take it and hold it, in all its rawness, all its dark confusion.
Why You Should Read It:
I'm excited to watch the movie this weekend, but I'm guessing this is one where you'll want to read the book first.
