April Snow has been on my to-read list for quite some time, but it's out of print and was hard to get my hands on a copy. My mom found this copy at an antique store (my grandmother found her copy at an antique store as well, so if you are interested I would start the hunt there). I loved this book. I think Sigrid is a true literary heroine - an exemplary model of female strength and a great role model for motherhood. She shows true kindness and love to her children, her friends, her neighbors, and her (frankly, lousy) husband.
"Some work to do, someone to love, something to look forward to. That is Life's answer--" she had said to Sigrid, "and what provides all of these better than children?"
Why You Should Read It:
This is a very well written book with a good story. You will admire Sigrid for her love and strength. I also really enjoyed learning about the culture and traditions of the Swedish people. It was one of the most interesting parts of the book- my hair in these photos is a nod to that. ;)
